Alison Curry is co-founder of Charleston Distilling Co. with her husband Steve Heilman. They both came out of high-pressure careers – Steve was a trader and Alison was in Sales – to pursue their dream of distilling fine, small batch spirits. Four years ago, they packed everything up, moved from Chicago, and planted roots on King Street in the heart of Charleston. Now, they’ve grown so much that they are going to be adding a 5,000 gallon still and moving their location in about a year to fulfill demand of their product. This was a fun conversation with Alison as we talked about their move, the difference between bourbon and whiskey, and what it’s like to run a business as a couple. If you’re in Charleston, Charleston Distilling Co. is definitely worth a visit! And, we pretty sure you won’t be disappointed if you purchase their liquor. At least we know for certain we aren’t disappointed. 😉

This week, we’re in the studio alone. No guests, just Statoya, me, and a mic. Each week, at the end of every episode, we ask our guests to give us 4 numbers out of 70 and they have to spontaneously answer the questions associated with the numbers they’ve chosen. We thought this week it might be fun to put ourselves in the hot seat with those questions and ask them to each other. We cover things like our favorite restaurants, something we’ve done that we’re really proud of this year, people we admire, person we’d like to have dinner/drinks with, and so much more. We hope you enjoy this episode as we peel back the curtains and let you know a little about what makes us, as your GSD Entrepreneur co-hosts tick. From the bottom of our Charleston hearts, thank for tuning in and listening each week. You are a big part of what makes this so fun.
Happiest of Holidays to you and those you love!! 🙂

Gil Shuler is one incredible guy. He founded and has been growing his company, Gil Shuler Graphic Designs, Inc. in Charleston, SC for the past 32 years. In that time, he has done all things graphic design including building and developing lots of brands, doing all kinds of packaging work, and creating a ton of posters, among many other things. But, more than all of that, he has impacted a countless number of people. In his own words, he is laid back, funny, creative, and loves to fish. We couldn’t agree more and… who doesn’t love that combo? Gil is just someone that, if you know him, you feel like one of the lucky ones. We invite you to listen in to a good friend of ours as he describes the evolution of the graphic design industry over the last 30+ years and he tells some of his proudest moments. We love this guy and think after this episode, you just might too.
