This is a little different episode because I have the privilege of stepping in as guest host of the 321GoProject podcast and interview its incredible weekly host, Matt Scanlon. I’m missing my wing-woman, Statoya, in this episode, but flying solo only makes me realize how much I love flying with her as my co-host. Matt is no stranger to our podcast and this episode with him was so good for GSD entrepreneurs that we couldn’t help but also publish it here on GSD. In it, Matt pulls back the covers a little for us as he answers some tough questions about entrepreneurship, 2017, and what’s ahead for him in this upcoming year. This guy is a leader who Statoya and I deeply respect. He is the founder of CrossFit Memorial Hill in Kansas City, MO, and is on the leadership team of 321GoProject, which is a marketing and business coaching firm for gym owners. Matt is smart, a strategic thinker, adventurous, fun, driven, loving, always striving to push himself and learn new things, and most certainly a GSD kind of entrepreneur. Our interview today is a special one. We get to have 45ish minutes with a man after our own heart. Brett Podolsky, joins us on the mic as co-founder of The Farmer’s Dog. He started this company in 2014 along with his best friend, Jonathan Regev, after his pride and joy Rottweiler child, Jada, had continuous stomach issues. The vet told him he needed to feed her better food and after looking high and low for a solution, they decided to provide the solution that Jada needed. Three years later, they’ve turned the company in a multi-million dollar business and have been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 list, but more importantly have given countless dog mom’s and dad’s the peace of mind that their dog is being well-cared for. We think you’ll agree after listening to this episode that Brett is one of the most kind-hearted people, with a giant mission in life to make dog healthier. Brett talks about how he and Jonathan have worked hard to build a team that is family and cares deeply for the customers they interact with on a daily basis. It was a privilege for us to spend a little time on location at Local Works with Jamee Haley. We think you’ll see, as we did, that Jamee is as passionate as she is smart. In this week’s episode, Statoya and I do a little reflecting on 2017 and looking forward to 2018. Overall, it’s been a good year for us. We definitely had things that were challenging which we talk a little about in this episode, but it also was a year full of learning and growing and being stretched. We hope this conversation causes you to set aside time to look back and then allow yourself to get excited for what lies ahead. Our encouragement to you – invest in yourself this year so that when Dec. 31st rolls around again, you can look back with a full heart and be proud of yourself for all that you’ve accomplished.
