HARI MARI: Creating A Better Version Of An Existing Product, Looking For The Signs, And Living in Gratitude

HARI MARI: Creating A Better Version Of An Existing Product, Looking For The Signs, And Living in Gratitude

Jeremy and Lila Stewart created something they couldn’t find themselves. Having spent a few years working overseas in Jakarta, Indonesia, they came home needing new flip flops and all they could find were the same old same old as when they left – boring black and brown and ones that took months to break in. So, like all good entrepreneurs, they decided to build the solution they were looking for, and Hari Mari was born. These flip flops are not your ordinary flop. They are comfortable from the moment you put them on, no long process of having to break in that piece between your toes. But, Jeremy and Lila are also not your ordinary humans. They are deeply committed to building a company so they can give back, specifically to the non-profit they’ve established called, Flops Fighting Cancer. Great people, great product, great mission. In our opinion, it just doesn’t get much better than that.

DR. JESSE & MIMI ROSS: Understanding The Power Of Being A Wounded Healer, Finding The Love Of Your Life When You Least Expect It, And Caring For Yourself From The Inside Out

DR. JESSE & MIMI ROSS: Understanding The Power Of Being A Wounded Healer, Finding The Love Of Your Life When You Least Expect It, And Caring For Yourself From The Inside Out

Mimi and Dr. Jesse Ross are two of the most absolutely delightful and brilliant people. They are a power couple in every sense of the word, and kindness and compassion just seems to ooze out of every pore in their bodies. They have devoted this phase of their lives to caring deeply for and healing others through the gifts and talents they have been given and cultivated. They own Chiro IQ – a holistic chiropractic care center in Charleston, SC, have their own supplement line called Bio IQ, and they have a parent company called Formula IQ where they help others produce supplements. As an unsolicited plug, after we recorded this interview, we tried their special recipe bone broth and have already begun to experience its effects – surprisingly it’s like apple pie in a cup, and who can’t get behind that? Thanks for listening – we’re proud to share their story with you.

LIZ MACPHERSON: Following The Thread Of Life, Making A Tangible Impact, And Understanding The Power Of Relationships

LIZ MACPHERSON: Following The Thread Of Life, Making A Tangible Impact, And Understanding The Power Of Relationships

Liz MacPherson is an absolutely delightful person. In this episode, we have the privilege of getting to know her right alongside of you, and we couldn’t have loved it more. We enjoyed spending time with her so much that we continued our conversation for over an hour after the mic went off, and then scheduled a dinner together to continue our conversation further. You’ll see – she’s a treasure. Liz’s was raised in Germany, her first job was for the Food Network, and she has founded an international  company, called Mac and Murphy, that is as she describes “A well curated lifestyle brand and stationery & wedding boutique”, and has been featured in countless publications over the years. She is humbly confident, hilarious, and her Dad is her favorite person in the world. Every day here at GSD, we’ll drink to that.

JEN PELKA: Pricing Your Services To Show Your Value, Hustling Every Day, And Juggling It All

If you looked up “GSD Entrepreneur” in the dictionary, you just might find the name Jen Pelka. This woman doesn’t let grass grow under her feet and lives each day to its fullest. Her career experience includes working for very well known chefs, the Gilt Group, Tumbler, and Open Table. She has been named Forbes “30 Under 30” for Food & Wine, and was a James Beard Award nominee for Best Food Coverage in a Food Focused Publication. In addition, she was a recurring guest as a secret diner of Bravo TV’s “Best New Restaurant”, and a guest on Season 6 of “Top Chef.” This woman knows how to make things happen. She currently is the Principal and Founder of Magnum PR, a PR firm who has an impressive list of San Francisco restaurants as her clients, and also owns The Riddler, a Champagne bar in the heart of San Francisco, where their motto is “hello, old friend.” While we absolutely love Jen’s overall badassery, what we love most about her is that that motto is exactly how we felt when we first met Jen, like we we meeting an old friend for the first time.
