Growing up, all Katherine Frankstone wanted was her own Easy Bake oven, but her parents insisted that she learn to bake on the real thing to make, as her Dad said, “the goodest” cookies. Obviously that learning at a young age paid off years later when she would bake cookies for friends and they would try to convince her to sell them because they were just that good. Fast forward to today where she has a thriving cookie business called Grey Ghost Bakery in Charleston, SC. They say the best things are made with love which is probably why Grey Ghost cookies are so amazing. Katherine and her team put cups and cups of love into every batch of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside cookies. Grey Ghost cookies were even featured on the Today Show as a perfect gift giving idea. But even better than her cookies, Katherine is a GSD Entrepreneur who has persevere through the tough times of building a business and the many “I feel like quitting” moments so that she can positively impact as many people as possible. Erik Holmberg, founder of J. Stark, is a rad dude. He’s witty, has a classic, timeless style, is unassuming, and is fiercely loyal to those close to him. He started J. Sallie Holder has got a fire in her that burns bright. It’s often said that everything is greener after the storm, and Sallie is living proof of that. Having realized success in every outward expression of the word – family, career, and “stuff”- she got to the point not once, but twice, of being at the top in her career and feeling empty. For the 2nd week in a row, I have the awesome privilege of interviewing one of my brothers on this GSD Entrepreneur podcast. Chad Weldon is truly one of a kind. I’m pretty sure God broke the mold when he made this guy. Chad is owner of The Master’s Baker, a wedding cake, party cake, and specialty dessert bakery in West Chester, PA (30 minutes outside of Philadelphia). My Mom and Dad founded The Master’s Baker 48 years ago. Seven years ago Chad took the business over and last year he officially became the owner of TMB. In that time, he’s turned the bakery into a national force to be reckoned with as they most recently won “10 of the Most Popular Wedding Cake Bakeries in America” by Wedding Wire and Delish magazine. They do 30-70 wedding cakes… a weekend, and service close to 50 venues in the Philly area with cakes. But in addition to building a successful business, he’s a man of conviction and heart.
